@NStone88 Yes. They may use any grip the want. The only real rules for this portion of the fitness test is that you can't kick and you have to go all the way down, extending your arms completely or it doesn't count. Each pullup is worth 5 points on the PFT. 3 is the minimum to pass and 20 is a perfect score.

In the Marines, they make you do a lot more than 3 pull-ups.

THATS ALL? im 13 202lbs and i can do much better at pull ups doing 73 perfect ones in a row with no stops, no kipping and from DEAD hang.
But nice try. :)

When the marine does the pull-up portion of the physical fitness test, does he have the choice to either do chin-ups or pull-ups?
