I agree. I live close to Washington D.C. where his papers are kept in the Library of Congress, and it is, frankly, an almost religious experience for me when I go through them from time to time.

@angela1894 I don't see why his ethnicity matters at all, but yes, he was an Ashkenazim Jew who converted to Catholicism on his deathbed. Ethnicity = Jewish. Religion = Catholicism. A great man, indeed.

Also, check out the child in the back (african american); it appears, the way he held his hand, he had a question. Racial tension perhaps? If they had time for another question, in a perfect world, they should asked the black kid.

@ClamCrunchy- if that was the only conclusion you got from watching this video, you missed the point of this interview. That kind of purpose would undermine the views opined in the film about scholarships, education ect. considerably.

J.v.Neumann's areas of expertise (AFAIK): Algebra, continuous geometry (which he invented), operator theory, stochastics, quantum mechanics, nuclear physics, the architecture of modern computers (invented!), fluid dynamics, explosive lenses, nuclear bombs, ICBMs, pseudorandom number generators, game theory, minimax algorithm, oh, and he invented merge sort and cellular automata before there were real computers. And he consulted for oil companies, GE, IBM and others. The guy was superhuman.
