I was asked how I found death certificates for just one town in Arizona. In this video I show you how to use "FamilySearch" https://www.familysearch.org/ , and "Arizona Genealogy Birth and Death Certificate" http://genealogy.az.gov/ websites to research one town. Even though I only used Arizona in video it might help you search other places.
Many sites out there with info available like genealogy . az . gov and the arizona memory project has excellent records. Mission records are available on line. The 21 Missions are on a site / camp pendelton / and needs experience in the field to accurately use. Library of Congress is a great source. There are tons out there. NARA of course. Visit a NARA (National Archives) if you can. Good luck on your research. Arizona is my genealogical specialty feel free to leave me a mssge for more sites.

familysearch . org is an ok site if you're looking actual records, but too many are taking the family tree information off that site and that is a very bad tool to use in your genealogical research. Prior to actually beginning my "exam" if you will, for my certification as a genealogist I made that mistake as well. My husband's aunt is an LDS member and she put wrong info onto familysearch. I can say Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are my parents put it on that site and people think its 'bible'.
