they are a losing proposition
GM once had 76% of the market and they squandered all of that away.
now they are beggars at the public trough
not one job will be saved bailout or not
The big three owes too much money now
they need to fail in order to restructure or they wont have any portion of the market left at all.

Frank/Dodd run the committee that knew the bank/mortgage problems were coming for the last several years, and did nothing. Of course they had to give money to the banks to save their own asses.

If the Big 3 get a bailout loan, it should be with the condition that they only produce their smaller cars with good MPG. Trucks are ok, but they should have to scrap the Hummers, Escalades, Navigators, and other wasteful vehicles that nobody needs.

The bailout is big government like it or not. What I have been suggesting is a consumer rebate for any vehicle purchased. The free markets must be maintained. Toyota and Honda also employ Americans and they too are laying off. At least with a rebate the consumer would benefit from an actual industry stimulus. A direct government bailout would most likely end up paying for layoffs and plant idling.

Where is this guy going with this??? He sounds like another Rush ditto head. On one hand he hates big government and on the other likes the union. W has been the worst president in the last 30 years but no one is coming to his defense. The car companies got them selves into this one they should get themselves out! We can't keep writing checks!

I like neither big gov't or unions that impale themselves on the sword of greed. But you have to ask how it is that Frank/Dodd got to GIVE the banks $350b w/ ZERo strings, but can't loan the Big 3 (as pathetic as they have been) the money to keep 3 million people employed.
If anyone hears a solution from the Chicago Messiah, please pass it along.
