Ghost Ratchet Glitch (R&C1 - Umbris: Quark's HQ)

I found this glitch just playing Ratchet and Clank... I was playing on Umbris and tried to save myself from falling in the mud using the swing shot. In this particular spot, this causes you to not only hit the mud-of-death, but get resurrected from it, and pulled, impossibly, through a bridge. Ratchet has now been brought back to life, with the spooky ability to jump through walls!

The implications of this on say, speedrunning are huge since this allows skipping through the entire second half of the level and omitting the Boss, which counts as a sequence break in my book. A minor problem is the need for save-warping or death-warping out, but since the glitch centers around exploiting out-of-bounds areas to begin with, a forced save or death are a small price to pay for a darned nifty glitch!

I think i might try this glitch out on my copy...does it mess up your game in any way permanently though? Does it corrupt anything or mess the game up forever? If any lasting consequences come out of pulling off that glitch i'm not going to bother.

Yeah, I'm not surprised that others have found it, but since I couldn't find it documented anywhere I figured the video was worthwhile. A Ratchet and Clank speedrun is being discussed at Speed Demos Archive, and that's why this is of interest to me. This needs to be documented at GameFAQs as a trick, but I've been lazy about it thus far. If it's buried in an FAQ or walkthrough, then I may have missed it.

This happens because the game registers that you died, so you don't kind of "exist". This can be done in other rac games too.

this glitch helped me sooo much thanks for posting this. this glitch wares off once you die. this was the only way i could beat quarks level thanksss
