@sparkmoderator i think the sand kind of captures them and pulls them under, so even though they are weightless, they can't get out

How do you sink in quicksand underwater? Surely you weigh less underwater for a start and if the sand is in the same medium as the surrounding area it wouldn't be lubricated, would it?
