The End of the American Dream - Worshipping Mammon

Love thy neighbour? Turn the other cheek? Blessed are the peacemakers? Not in many US churches where the American god reigns supreme: MONEY. Just like everything else in the USA, religion is just another way to make profit. Since cash is the real meaning of life for many Americans, especially for those in power - who happen to be the same people who run America's large corporations - it comes as no surprise that religion is just another commodity to be exploited. Corporations have discovered it as a means to keep the people in check and thus in blissful ignorance with the majority of Americans now believing in creationism and other Bronze Age myths repackaged as 'Intelligent Design' for today's consumer society. As the New Testament could pose a real threat to those who wish to engage in perennial warfare, cut social benefits, declare universal health care unconstitutional, and dismantle democratic institutions to maximize profit, America's corporate-controlled fanatical Christian fundamentalists focus on the safe haven of the Old Testament such as Leviticus, which gives godly blessing to any moral outrage and human rights violation imaginable. This film clip is from a documentary following a false Christian fundamentalist preacher who tours the country to make as much cash as possible. Although it is a bit dated it is just as relevant today.
