The bad guys have released this Dark Virus. When Hikari shows up, he's already infected. The only cure is to purge himself of the tainted energy, but in that state it'll probably kill him. Hikari tells Mebius to stay behind while he chases the bad guys, buuut they eventually go together, drawing strength from the audience and each other. Phoenix Brave mode, bad guys dead, virus cured, the end.

But that disembodied voice in the back? Also Mebius.
