Re-Connections is the title given to an interview by Michael Malone with Author and Science Historian James Burke on the 25th anniversary of his well-known series "Connections". The interview takes place in the San José Science Museum (in Silicon Valley). During the interview, Burke looks back and then forward to the program's digital incarnation (ie. this website), and then further again towards his current project: "The Knowledge Web" (http://k-web.org).

  • JamesBurkeWeb, is there anyway to get the program Mr. Burke is demonstrating here? It seems like a stupendous program

  • Yes, it's called "The Brain". Their website is thebrain [period] com

    Or Google:

    the personal brain software

  • James Burke's connections series, and all his later series too, are the best things ever shown on BBC, he is a genius at explaining things.

  • Yes, absolutely. I have them all on my channel but I've been blacking them out in protest to the forced design change. However, they will all be restored on the 14th so you can watch it all again at that time.

  • how many people rubbed the back of the left ear after watching this? hehe

  • It is striking how the k-web had the fighting chance of beating Wikipedia to the top. After all the project started within a few years of each other, looked for volunteers and so on. Though, seemingly, not its primary function; getting lost in wikipedia through its connections and links is a happy pass time for people all over the world.

Yet another brick in the non-linear foundations of history so beautifully described through Mr Burke's work.

  • @TwelveBells No, not really...

  • anyone else find the link between Mozart & the helicopter absolutely completely contrived & pointless?

  • Wait a tic, what about Top Gear? That show's the shit.
