Remise de Médaille Chevallier de l'Ordre des Palmes Académique à M. Gabriel LUGO le 18 Décembre 2010 à Dallas.
On Saturday, December 18th 2010 in Dallas, Gabriel Lugo received the Médaille Chevallier de l'Ordre des Palmes Académique.
The Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Order of Academic Palms) is an Order of Chivalry of France for academics and cultural and educational figures. Originally a decoration founded by Emperor Napoléon to honour eminent members of the University of Paris, it was established as an order on 4 October 1955 by President René Coty.
The early Palmes académiques were only given to teachers or professors. In 1866, the scope of the award was widened to include major contributions to French national education and culture made by anyone, including foreigners. It was also made available to any French expatriates making major contributions to the expansion of French culture throughout the rest of the world.
Gabriel is being honored for his major contributions to French national education and culture at the Alliance Française in Dallas and Cincinnati.
The Alliance Française de Dallas (AFD) is a non-profit, cultural and learning center dedicated to the study of the French language, cultural exchange and friendship between Americans and all French-speaking people. Lugo was made Honorary President of the AFD in 2009 after serving for several years as its president; he is also President at Charles Taylor Risk Consulting, the risk management unit of London-based Charles Taylor Consulting.
Gabe, je sais , pour te connaitre depuis près de 20ans, que tu mérites cette décoration, toi qui a mis toute ton énergie dans la promotion de la langue française et de sa culture.
Mes très sincères félicitations
Luc
