38 years later, I finally converted my 8mm movies to digital. Using a homemade bracket for my Kodak Instamatic box camera, some shots were taken from the gunsight and the side of my helmet. Carrier landings, cat shots, weapons work and photos of former Clansmen make this my tribute to Attack Squadron Forty Six.

  • Hey nice video...Just curious if you knew any A7 pilot with call sign "Muddy"on the Forrestal. I was'nt sure what squadron he was in. pilot at 4:07 looks a lot like him...thanks

  • @frentrup Thanks for watching. I didn't know Muddy. We were flying A-4s on the Forrestal and after the fire, transitioned to the A-7 and the Saratoga in '68..

  • Nice pictures there i was on the line division during the 88-92 time frame i really enjoyed my time there as a clansmen. davidmann68@gmail.com

  • Served with VA-46 from early 1982 until 1985 as an AD troubleshooter on board the USS America CV-66 and at Cecil Field. Lots of good times and great people! Loved to climb up in the cockpit and do both low and high power turn ups. Hey... what ever happened to the photo documentary that the squadron kept in the closet of the ready room?! It was a couple giant photo albums filled with old photo's from the commissioning of the squadron until ???????(whenever). Wonder what happened to them...

  • I was on the line division and then in airframes during 1983-1986.

    fantastic memories, good old days

  • Nice.. I was a Clansman '87-'90. AE3 under Fast Eddie's command. I didn't make the trip to Desert Storm but I had a great time.

  • Great vid.

  • Nice to find this. I flew with 46 in 1981-83, USS America. Brings back memories.

  • Enjoyed the video. I was a Clansmen from 1970 to 1972. Great memories. Looks like bombing footage from the Chocolate Mountains and Vieques. My cruises were to the Med aboard the JFK and assigned to CVW 1 versus 3. Frosty

  • Hello fellow clansmen. I was in the squadron from 1970 to 1972. Two med deployments about JFK. Glad someone got some good 8mm, my movies weren't that great.

BTW: I knew a Muddy Waters, but can't recall if that was east or west coast.
