ok can a maf from any 300gt or do it have 2 be from a vr4

If it runs fine without the MAF than is is the MAF. I promise. You know the label on the MAF. It should say 3 numbers on it. like 440 or something. I dont remember the numbers they come with. But replace the MAF with one that says the same numbers and the car will run fine. I had one go out on me and my dattalogger showed that the engine was still getting close readinds of the air flow. But it doesnt have to off by much to run like, that.

you have a bad maf sensor and your ecu is getting messed up readings from it but there easy to replace ... in a dsm ive never worked on vr4 but you with out a doubt have a bad maf

Your MAF sensor is bad. This is one of the most basic things you can do to figure this out. You unplug it, it runs fine. Plug it back in, runs like shit. Get a new one.

Make sure you have your engine grounded well! I have one from my plenum, throttle body, and then the transmission. I had very similar problems to this that I could not figure out and that did the trick.

Defo check the maf, 02 sensor, throttle cable, ECU for leaky caps, and check the cambelt good be off a few teeth cheers

@tzz50 not just any maf will do it must be a maf from a turbo,and if you get a brand new one from mitsu be ready to pay$ 600.62 My dodge stealth did the same after my rebuild on my maiden voyage home unplugged and ran on cpu for a week got a new used maf and its back to its beastly self again,$59,from Ebay,Hope youve got it already also eclipse turbo 92-95 i think has the same maf the only challenge can be wires and the match up.Nice build good luck.

I have a 91 n/a rt, but I think a newer vr4 still has ecs....

Ur ecs (suspension) computer bad? (both flash on off on dash). If so the caps in the ecs controller are prone to the same thing as ecu with leaking. No big deal right? Whats the suspension have to do with that? ....ecs computer is on same circuit as the tps in the ecu, so with a malfunctioning ecs, u get bad tps signal. Also had a bad maf at the same time....tapping on the top of the maf at all would cause a miss, repeating it quickly would kill it all together. Check ecs controller....
