A real bodybuilder will only do deadlifts with a barbell!

@joeybeck SOOO I assume you're the "Bodybuilder" that thinks he is a "powerlifter" that takes "Supplements" that makes him feel big and strong, yet self conscious of the fact that all the muscle you have put on is for rent. And as soon as you stop you shrink. Back to the little pussy boy inside that drives you to the gym everyday. well dang ...I Build my body through many avenues TRX,yoga, different methods of training with weights like "power lifting moves"ect.

@booner005 find it hard to believe the weight feels consistent throughout the lift. The weight itself is not distributed evenly. Your making the lockout easier. If you shifted the majority of the plates to the back, it would make lockout harder and pickup easier. Try sumo deadlifts if it bothers your shins that much.

@Sharkman3472 Does it say that? how old does the machine look? Because the one in our gym is just like 2 years old and it says Deadlift on it and it's a Hammer Strength. The only reason I say it's not a shrug machine is because the motion required makes it more awkward than actual barbell shrugs.
But the fact you say your's has a seat and backboard as well means you are obviously talking about a machine that looks different than what's in the video no? I've never seen this with a seat.

true, its up there with the squat on the most effective exercises you could ever do.

@Sharkman3472 Yeah this one is the lunge/deadlift ... two different handle settings.. no seat... I love it.

@blaktrumpet Where you at now? Still pulling hard, I'm sure!!!

@Canadarm123 The gym I train at has this piece of equipment. Its a "Shrug machine" because the "Hammer Strength" brand sign on it officially says 'Shrug Machine" and it also has a seat and a back board as well so it can be done seated or standing. So that machine is meant to be a shrug machine. It can definitely be used for dead lifts though. [Also I used to be flooopy 1, but I changed my user name.]

This is a great machine for dead lifts. Seems safer for the lower back.
I've never used the hammerstrength machine for deads, honestly didn't even realize that it could be used for that. Gonna try it out on back day though, usually did deads on a barbell which I thought was the only way besides DBs. Seems easier in my opinion for this machine instead of a good old barbell but I'll have to try this out myself.

@CaptainCrunch541 I have to many scars on my shins from Barbells--(whaaaa I'm a big baby)--I would rather focus on the whole movement, and the Hammerstrength allows me to do just that.

I saw someone else do that the other day at my gym. I had a question about it though: Does it feel like it gets heavier towards the top of the lift? (kinda like adding bands to it) I ask this because the weights motion is most parallel to the force of gravity at the top of the movement. I know for the hammer incline bench and stuff that this is definitely true (because ive tried it) but i just wanted to know what it felt like for you.

@currannaaach really no shift in weight for me.. seems pretty consistent all the way up.
