Some people don't like to hear the Harmonica overplayed or Simply prefer to hear the instrument played as a vehicle of select expression to be played sparingly like ice cream for dessert after a gourmet dinner.

I offer this to show the difference it makes to hear a song in a simple more "folk" sounding performance. I prefer this rendition to hear the tones of Guitar and to practice my vocal intonation.

I would love to hear what my fellow YouTube viewers prefer. Overplayed and Overblown with building Tension and variable speed intensity, or simple statement by Harmonica to bring closure without going "over the top" with Blues Harp? Please listen to the first take at least partly before you decide.

Again here are the Lyrics to 'The Vicodin Song' written by Terra Naomi:

You can drive you can drive you can drive
Down the 405
To the 101 to my house
And these highways are in so many songs
I couldn't count them all
I tried
So much sad history described in a ride
And when i told you i was happy i lied
I lied i lied i lied...

And i've got vicodin do you wanna come over
I know it's a long drive from malibu
I got a pocket full of pills and not one lover
And i'm feeling so bad and so good
I don't know what to do...

And i'll take my chances now
Cause i can't go back i'm out too far
And i'm thinking i'm thinking
I'm thinking that you know how it feels
So get in your car and drive
And i can tell you that i'll try
I'll try i'll try i'll try

And i've got vicodin do you wanna come over
I know it's a long drive from malibu
I got a pocket full of pills and not one lover
And i'm feeling so bad and so good
I don't know what to do...

It's in your face
I know that place you're going to
I'll follow you
I'll meet you there
Don't bring a thing for me
I'll take care i'll take care

And i've got vicodin do you wanna come over
I know it's a long drive from malibu
I got a pocket full of pills and not one lover
And i'm feeling so bad and so good
I don't know what to do...

  • I always subscribe to the philosophy that less is more...

    :)

  • Crazy thing is that played in reverse and sped up from 33RPM to 78RPM this 'cover' rendition of this song drones the pattern of speech sounding like Chipmunk's singing: 'hey you are stupid' and echoing 'hey stupid stupid stupid'....how is that for simplicity? I'm so bloody bored with life I search for reverse speech patterns in songs written by YouTube Stars that I cover in my own style. I think I need professional help, lol....hahahahehehe

  • Ever hear it referred to as KISS Philosophy? KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid

  • ( hic )

  • I can relate to that feeling....Currently sipping on a Core HG 10% alc/vol 24 ounce to be followed be a LOKO 12% acl/vol 24 ounce Fruit Punch and then I have a 16 Ounce Mikes Harder Lemonade if I am still thirsty, lol...Duke just ate a bunch of Beef Sausage with me and got back from taking a walk so he is laid back too. Just stuck on a DVD of some Martial Arts Movie I have not seen yet and getting ready to hit play on the remote and chill like it's 4:20...

  • You know when sped up and played in reverse, as described in my reply above to ShortbusMooner, I also hear a point where the voices seem to clearly echo: 'you aren't even grown up' while they repeatedly call the listener stupid and say other things like 'stop it, stop it!'...
