@EvilUser There was no good or evil. It was merely a chess game. Two players struggling for power. It was hard at times to tell who was in control. In the end, Kun won the game that Harman excelled in. By using Matsuoka, he trapped the king piece.

The way I saw it, Kun Lan was Iwazaru the whole time. It was symbolic of the conflict Garcian went through, between good(represented by Harman) and evil. The Heaven Smile were essentially what guarded him from his past, acting as denial, until he got to the very last one.
