I've just discovered yoiking whilst researching my family's Sami history (a big surprise to me) and I used to make this kind of music years ago, long before I ever knew it existed - it just came out of me. This is powerful stuff guys - thank you SO much - I'm just discovering who I am and it is all starting to make sense... my burning desire to conquer the North pole on foot... the shamanic visions of being initiated into a reindeer herd... the memory of being brought down by wolves in the snow

It was like so long ago that the goverment tried to make that culture dissapear, just like the battles between native americans and US Goverment.

Now the sami people have their ovn parlament, flag and somewhat independence, at least in Norway. Norway are proud of our Sami people.

I hope that Sami culture never leavs norway bc then it would be boring. why try to make something so beautiful as Yoik and the Finnish language to disepear? there are few places left with it so why not just embrace it. on the other hand I am glad that I have some common language to speak with them when I meet them

I predict a day where the Samis will join together and demand independance from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. I promise that on that i will stand by your side in support. The suffering the Samis have gone through in all the past centuries reminds me of the sufferings of my own people.
