Their bickering and accusations after disputed elections led to nationwide violence and threatened the future of what was one of Africa's most stable nations.

But now Kenya's rival political leaders have made up and agreed to share power.

President Mwai Kibaki has unveiled a cabinet of ministers from both sides of the political divide.

The man who stood against him, Raila Odinga will be the new prime minister.

Al Jazeera's Yvonne Ndege reports.

  • damn, so what do they riot AGAIN?!

werent WE suppose to riot today!

  • Al jazeera can say the sky is blue and I wouldnt believe it. They are hate mongers.

  • In kenya politicians are very greedy.MPs always vote to hiken their salaries. The average kenyans are absolutely poor. insecurity is on the rise, food prices are soaring and theese 40 ministers are strain on the already struggling economy. Kibaki and Raila need to think with their heads rather than with their big bellies.

  • This is so depressing.

  • Yes I often laugh at the Americans too.

  • ha ah ha ah,now thats funny!

  • Ok funny was not a good word. I was saying that it makes you think about how much money the US waste and how our economic problems are funny or frivol by comparison.

  • Whatever, $5million dollars it a lot. When close to 50% of the population is in poverty whatever funny you mean it's not. Otherwise you will sound like you're laughing: when frankly it's tragic. Unless you mean that the Kenyan people deserve better than those clowns?
