Yeah so they claim the ice sheet was kilometers high for eaxample where I am. The amount ow ater is pretty much constant. Comets add some, but generally it's the same water circling around - as far as I know. So it has to be modelled. You add the ice sheet areas to the models, and all other information you have about sea levels, vegeation zones, temperatires from ice samples, formations of rivers, lakes, seas.. and you get a simulation, a model. They do make these.

@Aurinkohirvi Going through youtube replies from ages ago and saw this :D I'm not disputing when the ice age ended (apparently it was a Tuesday ;). All I'm noting is that we still don't fully understand the extent of the ice back then, even if we do know its latitudinal boundaries. Did the arctic ocean freeze right to the seabed? maybe even pile up miles high sitting on rock like Greenland is now? I've never heard one way or the other.
