This is a video that shows British PM Gordon Brown meeting with Nigerian Presdient YarAdua at 10 Downing Street on the 16th July 2008.

The Prime Minister welcomed President Yar'Adua of Nigeria to Downing Street for talks & a joint press conference on some of the problems Nigeria are facing.

The PM outlined his plans to deal with oil smuggling & corruption in the Niger Delta region.

Prime Minioster Brown said: Let me say I am delighted to welcome President Yaradua to Downing Street today. We have a great deal in common. Nigeria continues to play an essential role in Africa, both through the African Union & the regional group. We had useful discussions across a wide range of issues of mutual concern and mutual interest, & we deepened the friendship that we have built up at many meetings that we have attended together.

President YarAdua said: Thank you very much Mr Prime Minister. Let me express my delight for the opportunity to be here and discuss issues that affect my nation & that affect the international community. I feel highly honoured. Britain has always stood with Nigeria throughout its troubles & history, & all Nigerians really appreciate that & our discussions today also confirm this bond of friendship & brotherhood & the readiness of the British government to help Nigeria sort out & solve its most pressing problems: those of malaria, polio; the peace process that we are undertaking now in the Niger Delta region; & helping us to develop the capability for maritime security in the Niger Delta region, & indeed across the entire Gulf of Guinea.

President Yaradua went on to say: I want to thank you again. Mr Prime Minister it has been a great honour & a great pleasure to be here at Number 10 Downing Street. I have had pleasant discussions & the experiences I will treasure throughout my life.
