Bred for pulling heavy loads, originating in Belgium,Scotland, England and France these draft horses are amazing. They prance in anticipation of pulling showing their will to do the work. Perhaps with the price of oil going up their day may come again.

  • Asking an animal for six to eight seconds of maximum effort is not cruel at all! These horses are happy and well-cared for.

  • Bear in mind that horses can pull 8x their own weight, and heavy horses are about 3/4 of a ton (metric). And there's two of them

  • those are beautiful horses :)

  • This is the literal father of tractor pulls.

  • Very cool to see drafts used for something they're built for :D But what I really miss seeing is a good pat and rubdown! Not a lot of affection present!

  • I WOULD CALL THAT ANIMAL ABUSE!!!!!

  • Do the horses like it to or not?

  • you can just see that they love to do this.

  • First time I saw a live pulling comp with such horses, I got chills watching them, as it es so awesome!

  • @grungeprincess86 As my riding instructor put it,we compromised with the horses..they give us meat, milk, rides, till our fields, and in return,we feed, water, and protect them from predators. Were they no use to us,we wouldnt've domesticated them.I'm so very glad our ancestors did,bc if they hadn't,i never would've met my amazing lesson horse,a solid paint named Jackson.

  • (continued) as humans first did when Paleo Indians encoutntered them after crossing the Bering Strait. As others have said, there are no horses that size out on the Plains, they'd never make it..their added need for food would lead to insustainablility, and they would die. Man has selectively bred for this job. They're loved and well taken care of.I"m the first one to call out abuse(I did at a show i voluteered at when a man beat a horse about the neck w/a lunge whip),and these horses are *not* hurt.
