So is this Dallas Blues or Ragtime Blues?
anchower 2 years ago
Probably the correct answer is "both". Dallas Blues (1912) was the very 1st Blues sheet music folio ever published but would have been considered ragtime back then. Blues did not start being considered its own genre until after 1914 when St Louis Blues rocked the world. But even St Louis Blues was subtitled "A Blue Rag" on its original cover.
