it would be like, impossible to put that on a guitar lol, cos of the hand position, unless you had like a section above the scratchplate where there were lasers, then buttons up the fretboard, for each string and fret.

@Heresathought Actually I've once seen a MIDI guitar - I think it was a Yamaha- much like the one you describe, with the diffrence that it uses strings to trigger the signal instead of lasers. A laser MIDI guitar is not impossible, but hard to play for a conventional guitarist, since we are used to response of strings while picking. Apart from that, techniques like palm muting would be impossible on a laser guitar
really cool it would be better if you had either more string/chords and/or if you could vary the pitch by moving your hand vertically. I wish I had the time to do a project like this I'm jealous you have much more time on your hands than me. awesome though job cool video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the number of string can be choosed between 1 to 20 :)
for the pitch i'm working on it for the future version but this is harder to detect :)
