Joeboy, i'm assuming that u're in the US or UK where accessibility for the Deaf is fantastic. However, not all countries or even TVs for that matter have the CC feature. Also, if you're profoundly Deaf, H/As really don't do all that much in terms of speech recognition. I do agree with you on being able to speak though.

That's not true.. I know lots of people who are Deaf and able to speak - I know someone who is tri-lingual too! Please don't make sweeping statements about ALL Deaf people just because you know of 1 ... everyone is different

Well, to be precise i know deaf people arent dumb. but, my bro he wasnt able to listen when he was born and thus once you cant listen.....definitely you wont e able to speak.
Ya there are many aids we have for these people but my perspective is to put yourself in that shoes and imagine there life.....

You're saying that deaf people can't hear to what the people are saying on TV? Well the TV has a feature (closed captioning) that's for deaf people or people with different languages to read.
Deaf people do have chance to hear by wearing hearing aids and they definitely can speak if they want to.
