The German composer, Richard Strauss, wrote this song for voice and violin. This theremin transcription is a mixture of the two parts - sometimes the vocal part sometimes the violin part. It is played on the Moog Ethervox theremin.
It has always been a favorite of mine and, like many of R. Strauss' songs, it adapts very easily to transcription for the theremin.
If you would like to hear a stereo version of this composition as it was performed on this video, you can find it on my website: (peterpringle.com/thereminmp3s.html).
A perfect composition for the Theremin! The melody sweeps you up and loses you in its emotion and at times you forget it's not a woman singing! Wonderfully played, Sir Peter! 8)

The only thing I have to say is "WOW"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And simply THE BEST version of Morgen I've ever heard (and I've heard the great Dame Janet Baker).....I may get flack from that, but oh well - I'll live......

One of my favorite melodies. Thanks, Peter. For me, your playing and tone is the closest to Clara Rockmore's that we have today. Beautiful phrasing and legato. Thanks for this posting.
