  • Craig, great videos!! Love all the education you have provided to me. I have a question for you. I recieved a home brew kit for christmas and wanted to know your opinion on bottling. My local brew store told me it is better to prime the wert in a separate bucket prior to bottling. In one of your previous videos you put the corn sugar in the bottle and then poured in the fermented beer to achieve the carbonation. In your expirience, which is better? Is it simply a consistancy thing? Thanks!

  • @vikingslayer34 This is one of those things where someone is going to tell you it's better just because they do it. Truth is, it doesn't really matter. Yes, there will be more consistency doing the "batch priming" as it's called, but you have to rack your beer an extra time to add the sugar, which you want to boil in a small amount of water and let cool. I would try both methods and stick with the one that suits you best. Cheers.

  • Great video as always. A party, sounds like funzies!! You're right, we're a little family here, and the best thing about homebrewing is sharing. Like you, I'm sure happy the mean-spiritedness seems to have died down, fingers crossed that it stays so. Happy holidays my friend!

Now, where's that microphone video? It looks and sounds so good!

  • @steeljan Jan, the evil brewer(s) will never gain any ground as long as we all are here with our positive spirit. And I am totally going to talk about microphones in a big way, including the one I'm using. I even have an old carbon mic that I'll talk about. It sparked the beginning of the telephone! Believe it or not, I have a flashlight that will help show how a dynamic mic works. I'm sure YOU can guess how that flashlight works. :)

    Hugs Jan!

    Craig

  • Hi Craig, Love your videos and I have 10 gallons of home brew going, one as a kit and one as a partial mash. I just don't get the mystique with all-mash brewing. I have tried it and I feel it is a case of diminishing returns with all the time and effort.

Now,. I am a musician and I want to know, is that a Neuman Mic you are using? I love your sound quality through YouTube. I am looking for one for when I sing. Keep on truckin'!

  • @whitato1 The mic is a MXL 990. It's almost too good to be true at $60. But it is really a fantastic microphone. I'm doing a review on it soon.

  • Great video! Check out my beer reviews if you get a chance.

  • Hey Craig, like your videos on brewing a lot.Was wondering if you can make a smaller amount of beer say 2 Gal. in the 5 Gal. container.I like to make smaller amounts that is why I bought the Mr.B.but do not like their brewing container.By the way if you like the kits,Then use them.Who cares what others may think.Do what you like as long as you do no harm to others.

  • Why would anyone not like that you smoke from the Shisha every now and then??

  • Hey Craig, have you ever considered brewing some mead? That would probably be quite interesting.

  • SHINER IS AWESOME!!

  • hi there its "kreg" here..lol

  • Hey Craig, those Saint Arnold brews are good, micro out of Houston. Fancy Lawnmower for summer in Texas and Elissa IPA for winter are my faves. Shiner Bock is a lesser brew but Shiner Black Lager is pretty good.

Anyway the reason I'm commenting - I saw your drum cover of "Hold the Line" and thought it was great. I wonder if you could (or have) covered "Those Shoes" by the Eagles on drums. I'd love to see it. I'll send you a six pack of the best Texas beer- Rio Blanco Pale Rye Ale.
