This video tells the story of the Two Row Wampum, the first treaty between the Haudenosaunee and European settlers. Made with the Dutch in 1613, the agreement outlines a mutual, three-part commitment to friendship, peace between peoples, and living in parallel forever (as long as the grass is green, as long as the rivers flow downhill and as long as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west). Throughout the years, the Haudenosaunee have sought to honor this mutual vision and have increasingly emphasized that ecological stewardship is a fundamental prerequisite for this continuing friendship. Film created by Peter Jemison of Ganondagan.

It's a Hollywood stereotyping, Stormember1, that all natives are/were dark skinned. Everybody gets dark when exposed to our Oldest Brother the Sun. Likewise, lack of exposure makes you pale. Do not judge anyone by the color of their skin, eyes, or hair.

It is quite beautiful---I will make a replica of this & wear it around my ankle as a reminder of the sacrifices made by my people who gave their lives 2 befriend strangers & 2 remind me that the ground beneath my feet (Mother Earth) is sacred.

    Thanks 4 posting this--

    Many Peace-filled Blessings,
