@kingslegion1 hahaha that threw me off too! yea i got an old "WOODY"station wagon it has panels on the sides and rear made of wood. so the tree they cut down to make it was prehistoric could i possibly have a car owned by Fred Flintstone.? lol

@shortist2003 Nope, they used the rings alright. It is possible to use fossilised wood from all over the timeline to put together overlapping series of seasons etc. due to certain characteristics in the tree's growth that remain constant between trees (the trees all grow in the same way undetr similar conditions). They compare the rings in those planks to date the wood to a certain year, when it was cut. It is a more precise technique than carbon dating and there is no risk of contamination.
