The central tenants of the Bible are male superiority, insane laws, and punishment. The sprinkles of love are only there to help sell the rest of the bullshit.

Easyandy100: The central tenants of the Christian bible is love and forgiveness.

Then forgive the mistake for you not mentioning any other religious texts. I can certainly disagree using quotes from the book that the book should be offensive to anyone with morals.

You've made a mistake in assuming I worship a particular book. I'm not going to argue the case for religion here. Take it somewhere else.

What's loving about believing your fellow man will be tortured and tormented for not believing in what you believe in? For a God that got things so wrong he needed to flood the world to right them. For a God that got things so wrong he needed to create a loophole to kill himself so that people would NEED to believe in him.

And I couldn't care less how 'fashionable' it is to hate religion, I genuinely believe it's toxic and hateful. And it's all in the book you worship.

I think you are looking for something that isn't there. You are putting the cart before the horse. It would be reasonable of me to suggest that religion is a result of a human trait to hope for or believe in an afterlife. So the answer in my view would be no on both counts.

We are talking about psychic mediums IE people who talk to the dead's spirits souls.

Don't most people's belief of said entities originate from the indoctrination of religion?

Is it not more feasible that said people would more likely "flock" to said mediums than those that where not indoctrinated with said beliefs, or no longer hold said beliefs?

I thought we were talking about psychics being con artists preying on a human trait? By your logic all religious types would be flocking in millions to psychics all over the world.

'it still designed to keep people from questioning and thinking'. Not really. I think you are being a bit paranoid. The human organisation of any church will be flawed but the faith itself is a huge comfort to people. It is clearly a human trait to have some sort of religion. Jungs work on it shows many similarities around the world. Certainly there have been wars over religion but there have been more over land and political ideology.
