they removed the traditional start menu and gave me a valid reason to finally use the shitty windows key thats plagued my gaming for years lol, other than metro for touchscreen monitors/devices its identical to windows 7, runs a little more smooth especially gaming but nothing else major has changed

it's there for a reason. the focus of windows 8 was to make a more closed platform. that is almost a unanimous opinion in the PC community.

ive been using it months before release through uni, im still not seeing these restrictions, ive never used the app store defo have never been forced to its not even on my screen, it runs as any other windows os does. it has a desktop with all the norms, yeah the new start is touchscreen freindly but it works perfectly fine with a mouse and keyboard ive never had an issue. the app store is an optional adittion infact theres sweet fuck all on there worth installing no one i know uses it

it's a closed platform. I don't understand how you can be looking past that. it's microsoft trying to adopt apple's business model. games and software being restricted to an app store. I refuse to believe that anyone with any knowledge of the things you listed has gone this long without learning who gabe newell is.
