Sigh. A horse can produce MUCH more than '1 horsepower'! Horses can drag logs out of the woods. Can you do that with a 1 horsepower engine? Can a two horsepower engine actually plow a field as shown in the video??? I expected better from the BBC.

WONDERFUL film! Just finished watching it. I have been implementing a Food Forest on my 3 acres in rural N. County San Diego, California. Permaculture is the ONLY way of the future. Harvest rain, retain all water fallen on the farm.. do not rush it off but create ponds & swales. Throw now greens away but built worm bins then inoculate the soil with them. Keep Rabbits, Chickens & Ducks for pest control and natural fertilizing & aeration of the soil. Plant in vertical layers to create shade.

Horses can drag a lot of weight... but it is a matter of time, how fast they can pull something. "The mechanical horsepower, also known as imperial horsepower, of exactly 550 foot-pounds per second is approximately"

yep; shoot is in jet exhausts. Why not ask some pilots what they think?
NOt sure what you mean by the last bit; you will find that the internet is a good way to meet cranks, who support you view, and nothing on the netto discount them. if it makes you happy, then on you go; not a healthy place to be though.
I should ask some pilots; they might just have noticed the od stuff coming out of the engines. means leaving the keyboard, (and dont be surprised to get laughed at).
