A Myrick Machine Company, Olean, New York, USA "Eclipse" gas engine. Serial number 1395. 4 horsepower at 450 RPM. Built in 1916. Showing start up on a "ready to go" hot tube ignition. This engine is air cooled by a belt driven fan. It has a hit & miss governor that holds the exhaust valve open at a preset speed. When the engine drops below this preset speed, the governor lets the valve close and the engine completes four cycles to produce power. Originally this engine pumped an oil well near Richburg, New York. Now it sits in my back yard and chuffs away. I enjoy it.
