this is some great advice for beginners like me, im 17 and i have loved trains everysince i can remember. they excite me and i love to operate them, only problem is the actual createing the design. i want to make a good size layout and have good operation along with it but i dont want it to become to exspensive or to large. Any suggestions? nice train room!!!

Thanks for the comment. Get some books at a hobby shop on getting started in model railroading. Start with a small layout with a plan for expanding it a little at a time.

Everything depends on the exact dimensions of your layout. If you use Atlas track use the 22 inch radius wherever possible and the 18 inch radius only if necessary. If you have more room use the flex track and make wider curves. The crossing will probably be 45 or 60 degrees depending on the angles and dimensions. Good luck and let me know how things go.

Well we have a 4x8 table for the main layout. We also built a smaller 4x4 for a yard and maybe an engine house or something like that. I am mainly concerned with the main table though. Thanks!!
