This is a rough edit of a 20 minute film shot by Joe Price in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, in February 2006 of Shopping with Shakespeare Ltd, with Dave Hannah, Zoe Lewis and Terry Betts.
Next performances: 14 and 15 November 2008. Venues: American Library and Office de Tourisme, Angers, France. Bilingual Shakespeare - is it a first? With Tony Stowers and Sylvie Adjedj-Reifers. The Shrew, The Dream, Henry V, hamlet and R&J. Contact venues for details.
Working on Shopping with Shakespeare 3 made especially for film as logistics too difficult to organise for theatre performance at this time. Determined to keep the concept going forward. Watch this space.
Shopping with Shakespeare 3 probably won't be happening the UK. It'll be either in France or in the USA. We'd love to perform more in the UK and the NE in particular but we appear to be underpaid and under-appreciated on our home turf, so it'll take a bit longer to organise but we'll hopefully end up somewhere we they'll appreciate us and we'll have a memorable film to mount here. Watch this space.
This was our first time out after a week of rehearsal. At this time our budget was limited. We now charge a fee for two and a half hours, that is: three, 25 minute shows. Our publicity is very colourful and easy to overprint with dates and times and places. Nearly all our performances are free and we are insured through Equity. Our next film will be a slideshow of photographs from our last tour 14 museums, galleries, a stately home and a hospital in October 2006.
