@frankystein12: the industrialization of nations has never been a pretty/pleasant sight. What's going on in China in the present happened in the United States, France, Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia (yes the Soviet Union), Korea, Japan, etc. when they went thru the industrialization of their societies in their pasts.

This torns me so much. On the one hand, China is fastly becoming the world's next super power. On the other, this process is done through the exploitation of rural villagers by corrupt government officials and their cronies.

Why dont they just incorporate rural and modern China? Sure china has a need for power, but they have enough resources to build lots of solar panels and wind turbines

Rest in piece Liang Xong.

Did he say 85000 dams??

If you're going to displace them at least give them a new start. To destroy their livelihood and then leave them to rot, that's horrible. But that's the price of progress.. some governments and politicians think to get real progress you must have absolute power. Is that right? It's a hard question that challenges the very utility of government.

Quite an interesting video. It is fascinating as well as disturbing to see a true account of the plight of the Chinese people who are disenfranchised by the government. 5 stars
