But Allan Moor said himself he intentionally made it so you couldn't convert Watchmen (and 'V for Vendetta') into a film!__he said he wanted to stymie the ignorant social pretense that comics had to be commited to film to be perceived as credible literature.
I've read the comic and watched the movie. Movie had a better ending, hands down. You really have to be a hardcore stubborn fanboy to think a dead giant squid makes much more sense, just because the comic came out first.
Thank you so much. The squid was one of the the things I didn't like about the comic and I was dreading seeing its fail on the screen. It had no purpose in the movie since they pretty much cut out everything that gave it a purpose.
OH MY GOSH...This is too funny :) One my philosophy profs told me about this video (we both love Watchman) and I had to find it...so funny, and so true, where is the effing squid?
1. never mind lol, its just a half assed youtube vid
2. you have short term memory loss lol
3. without the squid, there is no reason for the existence of bubastis, and taking up arms to fighrt dr manhattan seems vey unrealistic considering hes omnipitent , if i were them i would be pleading for mercy,
I think the ending in the movie makes better sense to people who haven't read the comicbook... (Imagine how an audience unfamiliar with the background-story would feel if a giant squid appeared out of nowhere - it would look completely retarded) Of course we who are enlightened would have preferred the squid-ending, but I get why they chose an alternate ending.
