The State of Minnesota is forcing Charles Van Heuvelin to retire at age 65. As a man with disabilities, he will lose everything he's worked for and face ending his life in a nursing home. Something has to change. Call your legislators and the governor, demanding they lift the age limit on the Earned Income Disregard for People with Disabilities

  • Have any members of the media, Minnesota Legislature, or Congress contacted Charles? I'm just wondering, if they would like to get in contact with him to learn more details about his situation, what would be the best way to get in touch with him?

  • I know that Charles wrote individual letters to all MN legislators and Gov. Dayton, for which he received one response. I would encourage people to leave suggestions here in the Comments sections for Charles and other in similar circumstances.

  • Unreal. MN bends over to support all these damn refugees, yet won't do anything for someone like Charles who wants to work! What's wrong with this picture?

  • Keep working on this, Charles. I'm you age and very able bodied. I feel it's my duty to help out in some small way. I'll be contacting both Governor Dayton and my legislators in your behalf. I knew Mark Dayton when he was a young man, and THAT Mark Dayton would have been a supporter of this idea. I suspect if he personally knows about it (other than just a staff person seeing something) he WILL be supportive now too.

  • Keep fighting Charles. You are correct you have earned the chance to work for as long as your are able. I'm going to be watching this closely, and you are in my thoughts and prayers. We need more people like you in this world Charles, thank you for standing up for what is right.
