New England's brightest holiday tradition! With dazzling special effects that have grown even more exciting over time, traditional and original songs, and colorful costumes, A CHRISTMAS CAROL has become a holiday favorite throughout New England. Based on the Charles Dickens classic, A CHRISTMAS CAROL tells the tale of curmudgeonly miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by the ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Future hoping to change his destiny and save his soul. This brilliant musical, an original adaptation by NSMT Artistic Director and Executive Producer Jon Kimbell and members of the NSMT staff, follows Scrooge through a series of strange and magical journeys, where he ultimately discovers the true spirit of the holiday season.

  • @jaqua524 I am in love with that music, too! A discussion with the sound effects person a few years ago assured me that the sound effects that they use would never leave the theatre. If you log onto NSMT's other video titled "A Christmas Carol 2010" you can hear it. I just got a degree in technical theatre so I can respect their policies. There are a few cues I love though. :)

  • saw it tonight, unfortunately, it was a different actor playing marley, but it was still a great job..and please, anyone answer me!..if you know of a way to get the music being played during the ghost of the future, let me know, cause I am in love with it.

  • I saw this Tuesday ( 20th of January 2011) and it was great! Marley scared the shit outta me though! I jumped into my friends lap and screamed!

  • i saw it last thrusday

  • i saw this on friday and it was AMAZING!!!

  • @Sulla2300 I heard all about that in the newspapers. It was a terrible shame. I'm glad that Bill Hanney is in control now and "A Christmas Carol" is back where it belongs.

It was not a smart idea, and it angered a lot of subscribers. Ticket sales for High School Musical 2 were disappointing to say the least, and it was the last nail in the coffin for the prior management. A Christmas Carol is a New England tradition, and this was a very poorly planned decison. Even for High School Musical 1, which played in the Summer of 2007, the ticket sales were far less than expected.

  • @Sulla2300 To clarify, the prior management at NSMT had no intention of permanently abandoning "A Christmas Carol". The reason that they did "High School Musical 2" during the holiday season was because they had the opportunity to be the premiere theater in New England to do the show. The agency that licenses the performance rights told them "If you want that opportunity, this is when you can do the show". I do however agree that dumping "A Christmas Carol" in '08 was not a smart idea.

  • This was almost the last year of A Christmas Carol, and would have been if it was up to the prior, incompetent management. The director chose to dump a 20 year old tradition to show the foolish High School Musical, which was a complete and utter flop. Luckily, the theatre has a new owner, who has some common sense and the show has returned.

  • There's a whole lot of unexpected booms and loud noises
