This TAS of Item Abuse contains many new small breaks and a few major ones that end up saving most of the time. Also, there were many optimizations on top of the breaks to add to the time saved. The major breaks include the new orange room strategy. This is just a faster version of Fethy's break idea. By eating a shell the same time you land on it with Yoshi, you bounce up, and you still have the shell, allowing you to do multiple consecutive jumps. This helped us skip most of the orange room. Another new break that saved a bunch of time was the purple room skip. In this room we grabbed the key the save frame we got the P Balloon, allowing use to fly under the level, and by timing it correctly, we ended with a speed of 52 for the rest of the level. Another minor break was the new strategy we used to pass through the ground in the water room. For this strategy, we went back to the original strategy of using two items to push Mario into the wall, and jumping. However, the old way had Mario run over to the muncher and back, which was very slow. Instead, we timed the shell to hit us as we were passing through the ground, saving around 43 frames over the other strategy (the one penangbenny used) of falling through the floor next to the muncher, to prevent having to run back to the muncher. Another new strategy that saved time was the unfinished air catch in the disco shell room. This allowed us to dive much faster to get under the muncher, rather than wait for the air catch to finish. Some other new ideas and optimizations saved some time, such as the new strategy in the first room, the extra shell jump in the disco shell room, and several optimizations of past strategies.

With that said: time to be annoying. At 1:05, wouldn't it have been faster to duplicate the run block from a distance rather than by doing a jump there?
Also at 1:11, woudln't it have been possible to jump on that first goomba rather than the second? Seeing as it is both closer and doesn't have wings you could jump on it earlier and not have to wait that long for it to become jumpable again.
Also would it have been faster to screenscroll at 1:40 to spawn the chainsaw earlier?

@sadisticdesigner screen scroll would take too long, no, the goomba gets killed when keeping the shell, yes, but that would be slower because we would have to get the throw block to a specific y subpixel which in my test ended up being slower :P
