  • You know, I am in the medical field and feel a dog should not be in a nursing home but to criticize and state you must care for you elderly parents is just not right. Sometimes help is needed. There are times that a child is not medically able to care for an elderly parent. I love this idea. But, while I agree that you should not put your parents away just to unburden yourself, I also hope we can all realize that not all circumstances are the same.

  • Excellant beyond previous "Granny pods", should utilize more, with/without medical monitoring. Sadly, still families who would prefer to put their elderly 'away' to vegitate to death, so they don't have to be burdened. Pity on them when their turn! I tried my brother when Mom needed place/got nowhere, so I took her in/brother is now causing problems These arrangements should be enforced. IF you care about your parents, you take responsibility, after all, they raised you for 20 years!!!

  • This idea is phenom! we cared for my mom and my husbands mom. one of the things we tried to do was to give them as much privacy and space as possible...as well as ourselves. now this would do that and also give you the equipment you would need. i like the idea of this, versus the cost of a nursing home or retirement facility.

  • I had two parents so why not leave it up if you have a living parent or your spouse may have parents that may eventually have to use the cottage. As a former nurse I really like this better than nursing homes!!
