Homebrew hacking job to an existing cabinet to play my all time favorite game, Atari's 1983 classic "Star Wars". Also plays The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi currently. Could load up more roms, but I really only wanted these three.

The cabinet was originally a shitty game called "Lock-on" from Data East. I was given the empty cabinet from a buddy. The yoke was non-functioning when I got it.
The repair was purchased from Ramcontrols.com.
The repro overlay was purchased from Thisoldgame.com
The marquee was printed off my computer as a temporary fix until I get something cooler made up.
The original control panel and yoke cover were pulled and will be available for sale.
The controller was a Microsoft Dualstrike Sidewinder USB.
The instructions on hacking the controller are on 1uparcade's site:

May the Force be with you!

  • You know, a lot of people expected maybe Mark "Cutback" Davis or Bob "Jungle Death" Gerrard would take the honors this year....

  • @yaggy9 Well, maybe "shitty" was harsh, but it certainly was anything but a "good game". It wasn't memorable, nor was it very well-built. The graphics were terrible, the controls felt sluggish, and the audio was annoying. The red light was neat when you had the missile lock, but Afterburner pulled it off ten times better. I used to love playing the PC game "F-15", it was great for its time, but did not fair well thru time. Alot of people would say it is shitty too. You mad bro? moohahaHA

  • Hot dayum thats some good mofo'n shit right there man

  • Wow...

    Wow...

    Excellent job!!

  • Fantastic effort!

  • You can really see the work and the obvious expertise you put into this, i take my hat off to you, thats quality work. I currently looking at getting a stand up cabinet version of star wars, sadly my lil flat is to small to get the sit down cabinet, I found a company that might be able to help me out but its gonna take a year to save and to justify to myself the expense. In the meantime i will just keep coming back to this video and live vicariously through it lol

  • OMG how I loved this game in the arcade.

  • really good job on the cab. would love to make a cab for star wars myself but i have to make do with having room for just the one mame cabinet. if i could, i'd make a cab for drving games and another for trackball games. 4 cabs in total would run every game nicely. i need a garage :) lol.

but ya, love these old school star wars games.
