I remember hearing Maurice say in an interview that when he found out he was hired for the role of Sonny, he thought to himself that he'd quit after doing the show for 6 months or when he's bored.... but he said he loved it so much he never quit...and ended up staying for so many years.

@neetrab maurice and ingo both left the show to pursue other avenues, but ended up coming back because work dried up. in hollywood so much is luck (as far as why they didn't "make it" outside soaps). i'm not saying they don't love GH regardless. also maurice has admitted to being bored with sonny at times. a recent interviewer asked maurice - and i quote: "You have been open in interviews about struggling with boredom on GH. How do you maintain a level of excitement and energy for Sonny?"

@katjamendez - I think it's a little much for you to say "they couldn't make careers elsewhere"... - anybody with experience, looks, and a good agent can get a role playing other parts on other shows/movies/sitcoms.. Don't you think they probably didn't TRY to go elsewhere for a job? I'm sure they just like being on this show so much, they didn't/don't want to leave. Maurice said he never gets bored playing Sonny...

@feelinggroovy789 sonny is sexy ONLY when he's with brenda. he's so unattractive with everyone else... lacks passion and shares lame, flat kisses with other co-stars. i think both maurice and ingo's careers were MADE after they were paired with vanessa marcil. they stayed on GH because they couldn't make careers elsewhere and people had already bought into their characters. but the very best of maurice and ingo will always be their scenes with vanessa!
