starts off with the aerial patched thru the FC-902. then i bypass it thru my matcher. long winded video i know. just gives an idea of the daytime reception. quite a lot of noise on the band.
---
by the way .. theres about 100feet of heavy duty wire on the end of the radio !!! heavens above i hear u say.
---
my homebrew ATU. it has 2 main windings on a ferrite rod like in a portable radio to save space. the Q is very sharp and is better than a air core winding. the tuning capacitor is a dual air spaced AM radio gang .. about 2x350pf

  • Really excellent video. Great to see that you used a tripod. A Much better look.

What is the silver box between the ft450 and the Sony radio? I give this 5 stars

    5/5* * * * *

  • on reflection the video could be improved a bit i think. the silver box is just our satellite receiver. i may have another go at demonstrating the ATU. if you listen to the lower bands i would recommend a tuner similar this. i prefer a tripod.

  • the ft-450 is factory set with 20Db attenuation on longwave & MW bands. unable to adjust it.
