A friend of ours recently passed away much too young. After attending the funeral, I wrote this song. It's written from the perspective of his girlfriend. Lyrics are below.
Wherever I Go From Here
Everybody keeps on talking
In quotations and clichés
Relatives and lifelong friends
They just dont know what to say
I know that good intentions
Are what everybody has
But any words that they say to me
Can't help to bring you back
Wherever I go from here
I know that you'll be there
I'll carry your memory
Every moment, everywhere
Can someone help me understand
Can someone tell me why
This wasn't part of the plan
It's too soon to say goodbye
You were only with me for an instant
A couple years, a couple days
You walked in and you walked out
I'll always miss your smiling face
Wherever I go from here
I know that you'll be there
I'll carry your memory
Every moment, everywhere
I wasnt ready for this moment
You were way too young to leave
It's just a breath and a heartbeat
That kept you here with me
Now the Autumn leaves are falling down
The days are short, the nights are cold
But you visit me in dreams sometimes
Then I'm not so all alone
Wherever I go from here
I know that you'll be there
I'll carry your memory
Every moment, everywhere
Mark...you will be missed.
I'm glad you found my song...I'm sorry to hear about your husband. It's amazing how both creating and listening to music eases the pain, at least a little, at times like these.
