Oran Canfield—son of self-help guru and Chicken Soup for the Soul creator Jack Canfield—tells his surreal story of growing up in Long Past Stopping. In this remarkable memoir, writing with a wry and cutting edge, Canfield relates tales of a childhood in flux—being buffeted about among family friends, relatives, rebels, and born-again circus clowns, in an anarchist private school, communes, and libertarian enclaves—and of a young adulthood spent among the ruins of heroin addiction. Long Past Stopping is Oran Canfields often hilariously harrowing tale of surviving life in the strange lane. Learn more at http://www.orancanfield.com.

  • You probably did not grow up like this guy. That's why you will find this book so interesting. Neither he nor his parents seem terribly likeable but the book fascinates. What happens to a kid raised without boundaries, to be himself before he has really formed into a person. Dropping acid with Jerry Garcia's daughter or playing with a guy named Grux in a noise band--or working 10 hours a day in the circus as a child are not experiences many of us have had! Not really a 12 step clone but close!

  • this was a good book. i enjoyed it

  • What an odd little promo video for his book! I enjoyed it.

I still think Jack Canfield, even though he was an absentee dad, has excellent ideas in his books.

I wish Oran the best of luck.

  • just read a short summary about this guy's life in UK's Guardian Newspaper... fascinating... chimes with my own thoughts that some of the supposedly "wonderful" stuff in the modern world just isn't - e.g. individualism, meritocracy - and all of that self-help snake oil peddalled by his dad.

Oh, and it seems the boy really could juggle, too!

  • lol that was funny

  • Love the book. Trying to steer clear from the junk my self

    Thanks
