@Microglia1 Taiwan has always been under the Japanese, and when Chiang Kai Shek ran to Taiwan, he was not welcomed at all! As the people in Taiwan or Formosa has been living peacefully, and the Japanese has developed Formosa into a country with strong economy. The Nationalist merely inherited what's left behind by the Japanese.

@Microglia1 just to correct you a little bit on the Chinese history. The Nationalist with Chiang Kai Shek at the helm is equally bad! His in-laws are ripping the country off like mad. The Soong family and the Kung family (75th Generation of confucious descendant) are stripping the country bare and channeling their wealth out of the country!

This was the period when westerners and Japs called Chinese: "the sick man of Asia". Remember that particular Bruce Lee movie that has sign, Chinese and dogs not allowed to enter sign? This was that era. Fortunately the sleeping dragon has wake up now.
