So if I coated the inside of my car with that, I'd basically have a bulletproof vehicle? Kick ass!

Please, don't alert PETA to my insensitive activities. :-)

What targets for 5.56/223 and .30-30?
-
Great gas mileage!
-
Can I shoot .22lr on 1/4" Mild (Weld) Steel? At about 10-20yds.
-
Hickok45, you are the man. Love your show.
-
"That's all I have to say about that" should be your new sign-off.
-
@AllfatherGuideUs the amount of steel you would need to "coat" the inside of the car would weigh more then the entire car.
-
@AllfatherGuideUs That car would weigh like 5 tons.
-
What "scale" are your knock down animals. I was looking at some 3/8 scale but may consider 1/5 scale. Thanks
-
i got some scrap steel that we weld on that cant be welded on anymore so i think i'mma gonna take the cutting torch and cut out some targets and make some portable targets out of it and weld a frame together and attach the targets
-
@hickok45 oh ok. besides the .500 is so damn expensive to shoot that i rarely even shoot it.
i am just getting tired of cans, empty milk gallons and cereal boxes for my targets. thanks for the videos man. keep em comin

Can you use FMJ on these targets?
-
How far is that big gong from where you usually shoot? You convinced me to buy 3 8" targets from arntzen! Thanks for all your help!
-
@dirtyterry44MAG , By the time I bought the equipment to cut and the steel, I would not save much, if anything, unless I went into the business. I really have about all the targets I need, although I'm sure I'll end up with a few more.
No, a .44 mag generally does not penetrate steel, even soft steel of 1/4". Handgun rounds do not penetrate steel, as do rifle rounds.
-
Thanks for the info on the targets. I checked the site and they are costly, but beautiful. Ever think about buying a plasma cutter and cutting your own? If you shoot full house .44 Mag at your steel, will it go thru?
-
@Lillredneck , Arntzentargets
-
What's the name? Art's targets?

Hey hickok45. I plan on using you idea of the hanging plates on the shepard's hooks. What would be the minimum safe distance to be shooting at those with a 9mm Glock, and a 22lr. handgun. I have access to plate steel so I will be making my own plates (round and square). Thanks.
LewistonFD47 1 year ago
@LewistonFD47 , Anything could happen at any distance, but most people recommend 10 to 15 yards distance.

what is the average target life, hickok? i will be shooting them with 5.56x45, 7.62x51mm, 9mm, 10mm, .45acp, .44 magnum, .500 S&W magnum. i take it i should hold off on shooting them with the .500?
theboredman1 1 year ago
@theboredman1 , If it's hardened steel (expensive) and is shot at the proper distance, it might outlast you and me.

The row of 5 round targets you have hanging near the front of the range, are those 6" circles? I am planning on buying a few but I'm not sure if I want buy 6" or 8". I'll probably just end up getting the 8" and then I can always just put them out farther if I want a tougher shot.
gboyd242 1 year ago
@gboyd242 , They are 8" plates, and they can be very frustrating at times. The thing about plates is that you don't know where you're missing and can get on a missing roll pretty easily.
