Jan 19th 2009 - JUST POSTED A NEW & IMPROVED VERSION OF THIS - TAKE A LOOK!

Me trying to drum like Stewart Copeland. Yes, I left out the bell on the 2 and 4, 'cos I can't do it unless I put my ride next to my hi-hat which is just stupid and anyway I understand Stewart dubbed that on top. I certainly hope he did. I love this track, it's busy as hell and it's damn hard to make it sound like Stewart. He is a God.

As I said at start, I have just (Jan 19th 2009) posted a new version of this on YouTube, WITH that bell and with many improvements. Please take a look, if you enjoyed this one!

  • I love it man, but I am not sure you got the hi hat stuff quite right (just going by memory).

I will have to pull out my cds and listen to the original again.

    Great stuff man.

  • @1998tuna You need to see my more recent version of this - much more accurate :-)

  • How about doing "7 days by Sting!!!!

    It,s intense :-)

  • @mulleops I love that track. Never been able to drum to it very well though - it is incredibly difficult!!!! I have improved a hell of a lot over the past couple of years, so maybe I could do it now - not sure! I'll see :-)

  • sorry this is not a reply -im pissed and love ya drumming...how long does it take for average dude to get this good..

    think this is great

  • @visionandsound I really don't know how to answer this one.

In my case it took me about 30 years to get it anything like this. There are plenty of drummers out there who reckon they can play it when they have only been playing for three years. I guess that makes them geniuses and me either a dam slow learner or incompetent.

Personally, I think every Police track is extremely difficult, and requires a high level of skill and a lot of experience. I find them all horribly difficult.

  • @kakuserver Hello, only just seen all this. My, my, you are a very angry chap aren't you? What do I seek? Fun. Sharing. That's what YouTube is about. I have plenty of musician friends. I play in a blues rock band, and a classic rock band. I also play in an international Genesis Tribute Band. I have no need to raise my self esteem. I am quite content, thank you. It is you I feel sorry for actually. People like you make me laugh - you have no idea how silly you look when you post such comments!

  • @kakuserver I am always intrigued by musicians who come onto YouTube and then proceed to be very unpleasant to us amateurs on YouTube who are having fun. It says an awful lot about a person when they seek to be so unpleasant. In my book, a musician has no business slagging off another - that is not what music is all about. In my experience, people like you have a huge chip on their shoulder. Why? It is you who have the issues, not the rest of us. Why are you so jealous?

No talent? If you say so

  • 3:46 love it

  • great prestation <3

  • Respekt!!!!!!

  • @misterio34 Many thanks for that. Yes, my style is horribly tense, though I think it has improved a lot with my more recent videos (this was my first ever YouTube vid), particularly now that I am using wooden drum sticks and a Roland drum kit - I am flowing and hitting everything properly, instead of trying not to annoy my neighbours too much and playing with Flix sticks :-)
