@Dremth I agree completely, lyrics limit the piece so that it can only be about the thing that is being sung about, as well as making it very musically repetitive, wheras the great thing about an instrumental track is that it can be special to everyone at a deeper level which is beyond words if you get what I mean

I don't think I've ever heard any instrumental rock track that blew me away like this did.

Exactly. And that's how instrumentals are supposed to work. You can convey just as much emotion with just an instrument or two versus a song with lyrics. In fact, you can often convey more emotion because you don't have the lyricist to draw your attention away from the music.
