Im sorry the Z06 makes 505hp and the C6.R doesnt make 625hp. The reason why the C6.R and the C5-R appeared to not have the power on the straights is because they way they like to tune the ECU and intake runners (longer runners make more torque, shorter produces high rpm hp) for more torque. Thats why the only time a C6.R would break is because of the carbon driveshaft failing under the amount of torque. The C6.R makes only 595hp on E85.R fuel but makes 690-725lb-ft of torque.
The stock DB9 engine is 5.9 liters(5935cc) while the Prodrive DBR9s is closer to 6.0 liters (owing to different bore and stroke). The C6R engine is 7.0 liters (same as the stock C6 Z06 engine) while the stock C6 is 6.0 liters.
The DBR9s that were in ALMS last year were NOT funded by Aston Martin even though they were run directly by Prodrive. They had Pirelli tires and not Michelins like the Corvettes. The Prodrive-built DBR9s are running a 6.0 liter engine while the C6.Rs have 1 liter more displacement than a stock C6. GT1 is dead in ALMS which is why customer car C6s should be built by Pratt & Miller right now.
Yea, well... Haven't noticed. But, in any case. AM and Vette are practically even. The one car outperforms the other in one thing. It's also up to the skill of the driver, and to get that crucial fast exit.. and must not be stuck in traffic too long at a time
Pro Drive Aston Martin . . . little English factory team . . . you're funny. And there certainly is a lot more to racing than money; ask Honda and Toyota how they're doing in F1, despite the biggest budgets, even bigger than Ferrari.
It's a stereotype that Euro-cars are better handlers and American cars are faster in straight line (certainly true in many cases.) I watched a lot of last years season, and the Vette would reel in the AM on the corners and spring off the corners better, but the AM would pull the Vette on long straights.

It's all about that crucial exit

Actually, it's the other way around. Vette is better on the straights and A.M. has the Vette on the bends
