The Little Cuckoo is the most popular bird in Japanese literature. For example, Otomo-no- Yakamochi (an aristocrat and poet) loved birds singing a song, especially, the Little Cuckoo in early-summer. So he himself wrote 64 poems with the Little Cuckoo as the subject in the Manyoshu.
The total number of Little Cuckoo poems collected in Manyoshu was153. That is 3 times more than poems mentioning the Japanese Bush Warbler in the Manyoshu (see Japanese Bush Warbler, HDTV by JH1RNZ).
In the ancient Nara era, it has was already reported in the Manyoshu that the Little Cockoo had layed eggs "brood parasites" in the nest of the Japanese Bush Warbler or the Oriental Great Reed Warbler(see Oriental Great Reed Warbler, HDTV by JH1RNZ).
In the year 746 (Nara period of Japan), when he took up his post as the Governor of the Noto Peninsula and Etchu Province ( facing the Japanese Sea, moving to Kofu Fushiki located about 300km far from Nara(capital city of Yamato)
